With this win, Real Madrid is now 14 points ahead of Barcelona, who still have to play their 33rd match.
Ancelotti’s different lineup
Ancelotti deployed a very different lineup compared to last time and Madrid showed they had depth in their team and were capable of handling the pressure from Real Sociedad, until they capitalized on their first chance. The home team tested their luck with a shot from Kubo after fifteen minutes, which was slightly off, met with a brilliant save by Remiro, and a long-range attempt from Touréntes in the 28th minute, which went just inches over.
The game ended with a score of 0-1. Touchaumeni passed to Carvajal, who crossed from the right, and Ardha Guler finished inside the box with a precise shot from his left foot, slipping past Remiro’s legs.
Real Sociedad equalized with Kubo’s goal in the 32nd minute, but Montero disallowed the goal due to an offside call on Touchaumeni, leading to a VAR check. It was actually Frenchman who had the last chance of the first half in the 39th minute with a powerful shot from the edge of the box, brilliantly saved by Remiro. After the break, Madrid looked solid in defense but had more fluidity in their attacking play.

Kepa Arrizabalaga (7/10): Made one or two good saves, kept a clean sheet. Did his job.
Dani Carvajal (8/10): Worked tirelessly on the right flank and provided assists. He’s been excellent this season.
Eder Militao (6/10): Not bad for his first start in six months despite a slip-up.
Nacho (5/10): Had his hands full with Antonio Rudiger. Not his most composed performance, and fortunate to end the game on the pitch.
Ferland Mendy (7/10): Energetic on the left, handled Kubo well and tried to push forward. He’s improved recently.

Midfield
Orellean Touchaumeni (7/10): Not his best game in midfield. Got pushed around a bit and didn’t have a big defensive impact. However, played an excellent pass to set up the winner.
Luka Modric (8/10): Brilliant as always on the ball, orchestrating things around the box.
Brahim Diaz (5/10): Didn’t impress as much as Ancelotti would have liked, and when he had the ball, he didn’t do much with it. A far cry from his best.
Attack
Ardha Guler (8/10): Impressive throughout and led the line well. Another talent emerging.
Joselu (5/10): Not his best performance. Ran a lot, won some headers, but never really made an impact on the game.
Dani Sebalos (5/10): Wasted coming in from the left wing and never really established himself in the game. Might need to go elsewhere for more minutes.
