“IPL 2024 Schedule Revealed: CSK vs RCB to Kick Off Opening Match on March 22nd”

The schedule for the first two weeks of the Tata Indian Premier League, IPL 2024, which runs from March 22, 2024, to April 7, 2024, has been released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Ten cities will host 21 matches over the course of the two-week span, with a minimum of three and a maximum of five matches per side.

The 17th season will kick off on Friday in Chennai between the defending champions and five-time winners Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The first week will feature two double headers, starting with Punjab Kings hosting Delhi Capitals on Saturday afternoon, followed by Kolkata Knight Riders hosting Sunrisers Hyderabad in the evening. On Sunday afternoon (March 24), the action will shift to Jaipur, where Rajasthan Royals will face Lucknow Super Giants.

In the evening, Gujarat Titans, the 2022 champions and finalists of the previous season, will clash with Mumbai Indians. Delhi Capitals will be the first team to take the field for their first two home matches in Visakhapatnam. On Sunday, March 31, Chennai Super Kings will host a game in Bandargah city, and then on Wednesday, April 3, Kolkata Knight Riders will face off against them at the same venue. As before, BCCI will work in conjunction with the government and security agencies, adhering to all protocols and advice related to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in India.

Once the dates for the 18th Lok Sabha elections are announced, the board will review any issues related to the first two weeks’ schedule and resolve them. Subsequently, BCCI will collaborate with local authorities to finalize the schedule for the remaining sessions while keeping the polling dates in mind.

Mohammed Shami out of IPL 2024

A major setback for Gujarat Titans as star fast bowler Mohammed Shami is ruled out of IPL 2024 due to his injuries. A team source revealed that Shami will undergo surgery as his current treatment is not working. “When he went for surgery last time, he was given some injections, but they didn’t have any effect. So, now he will undergo surgery. It seems he will miss the IPL.”

Tata Group secures title sponsorship

BCCI awarded the title sponsorship rights for IPL 2024-28 to Tata Group for a period of five years on Saturday. The Indian conglomerate, with its diverse business sectors, has renewed its partnership with BCCI at a record-breaking value of ₹2500 crores, making it the highest sponsorship amount in the league’s history. Tata Group previously held title sponsorship rights for it. In 2022 and 2023, they were also the title sponsors of the IPL and the world’s biggest women’s T20 league, Women’s Premier League.
