“The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is a symbol of our sport’s thrilling global expansion,” as said by ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice, “with more teams than ever ready to compete in this competition.”

In the meantime, all-rounder Nat Sciver and batsman Joe Root of England have been shortlisted for ICC awards.

Root is nominated for Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year along with India’s Ravi Ashwin and Travis Head, as well as the Australian pair of Usman Khawaja. The 33-year-old Yorkshire player scored 787 runs in the previous year, including two centuries and five half-centuries.

Nat Sciver, on the other hand, has been nominated for ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year alongside Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapathu, Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner, and Beth Mooney. The 31-year-old Sciver excelled in all three formats throughout the year and aims to maintain her form, having won the accolade for the ODI Cricketer of the Year in 2022.
