New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has sent legal notices to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Secretary-General Jairam Ramesh for allegedly sharing defamatory content about him on the party’s official X account.
In Short
Gadkari’s lawyer on Congress
Gadkari’s lawyer Balendu Shekhar said that BJP leaders were surprised to see that a 19-second video clip was removed from an interview with them by a news portal. His lawyer said that the clip has hidden the context and meaning of his words.
According to the notice, Nitin Gadkari’s interview was manipulated. His lawyer accused the leaders of Congress of plotting to promote division, sensationalism, and defamation in order to covertly carry out a heinous act.
“In advancing the aforementioned heinous act, the interview of my client has been distorted and presented in a distorted manner, which has been uploaded on your handle ‘X’, which is devoid of contextual meaning,” his lawyer wrote in the notice.
What was in the video?(watch)
The video was a clip taken from an interview with Nitin Gadkari by The Lallantop. Congress posted the clip with a caption on X: “Today, the village, laborers, and farmers are unhappy. There are no good roads in the village, no clean water to drink, no good hospitals, no good schools – Minister Nitin Gadkari

Kharge, Ramesh claimed Gadkari’s frightening act
Nitin Gadkari’s lawyer said that Congress’s two most influential leaders, Kharge and Ramesh, were aware of the comment in which they were trying to expose the efforts of the Narendra Modi government to bring development to the country. He said that the video with the Hindi caption was posted to tarnish Nitin Gadkari’s reputation.

“My client was surprised to hear and see the content and post from your party’s official handle (Indian National Congress) on the microblogging site ‘X’ at 9:36 am on March 1, 2024, which you intentionally posted after hearing and seeing my client’s interview. The relevant intention and meaning of the customer’s interview and 19-second audio and visual clipping have been concealed,” it said.
“The same heinous act has been done on a large scale in the eyes of the public for the sole purpose of creating confusion, sensation, and defamation and with the covert intentions and covert objectives of creating a futile attempt to create a rift within the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is ready to win the trust of the people in the upcoming general elections under the leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” the notice said.
His lawyer wrote in the notice that the caption of the interview is entirely wrong and reprehensible.
“The content of the video clip, which is devoid of a title in Hindi with relevant contextual intentions, is completely false, reprehensible, factually incorrect, entirely thoughtless, and an intentional attempt to insult by the authors of the notice. Along with insulting my client, it also tries to incite my client’s party members into a verbal dispute with my client, along with open options for both civil and criminal actions for your risk and expense,” it said.”
