Actor Daniel Balaji passed away at the age of 48 due to a heart attack in Chennai. His mortal remains were taken to his residence in Purasaiwakkam for the final rites.

Primarily known for his work in Tamil and Malayalam films, actor Daniel Balaji breathed his last in Chennai. According to reports, the actor suffered a heart attack on Friday night at a private hospital in the city’s Kottivakkam area. Daniel, whose stage name was TC Balaji, was 48 years old.

The actor reportedly went to the hospital on Friday after claiming to have chest problems. After his demise, his mortal remains were taken to his residence in Purasaiwakkam for the final rites. Both his followers and the Tamil cinema industry are in disbelief at his passing.

Mohan Raja, Daniel Balaji’s fans paid tribute

Director Mohan Raja paid tribute to Balaji and wrote a note on Twitter. Sharing a tweet, he wrote, “Such sad news. He was an inspiration for me to be a part of the film industry. A very good friend. Remembering working with him. Rest in peace.” #RIPDanielBalaji.

About his career

Daniel Balaji began his career as a production manager in Kamal Haasan’s unreleased Marudhunayagam. His first role on television was in Radhika Sarathkumar’s Chithi, where he played the character named Daniel.

His first Tamil film was April Madhathil, released in 2002. He performed in a number of Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada movies in addition to Tamil ones. He was also part of Kadhal Kondein.

Daniel Balaji’s first major role was alongside Suriya in Kaakha Kaakha as a police officer. The film was directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. He portrayed Amudhan’s role in the blockbuster film Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu alongside Kamal Haasan.

The actor also acted in Polladhavan, Chirutha, and Muthirai. He made his debut in Malayalam cinema with Black and was also part of Bhagavan. He was last seen in Mithran R Jawahar’s Ariyavan in 2023.
